Crochet Nemesis Sub Terra egg (plus bonus zombie chick!)
Last week we were planning to go to Alton Towers, so I thought I'd crochet something fun to bring with me.
After coming up with a few ideas, I eventually landed on making a Nemesis Sub Terra egg since it's one of my favourite rides, plus it was Easter, so making an egg seemed like the perfect project!
I ended up using a pattern from Winding Road Crochet, which was easy to follow.
I debated as to whether to try and crochet it using different colours, but I wasn't sure the best way to incorporate the colours that way, so in the end I decided it would be easier (and more fun) to water down some acrylics and paint it.
Once the paint was dry I sewed on the veins and added a keyring.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the final result.
When I get better at understanding 3D crochet patterns I would quite like to try making this again, and try and incorporate the colours into the pattern rather than just relying on paint. Also I might try doing the veins using fabric paint that comes in those little squeezy bottles.
Now, as it was Easter I thought I'd also try and make a cream egg chick. Ever since my Nan gave me one when I was little I really wanted to try and make my own, and now I've finally learnt how to crochet I could make that wish a reality!
I didn't want to make just your average, everyday chick though, I wanted to make a zombie one.
I used the pattern from Not Just A Mum From Cumbria with green yarn, then splattered it with some red paint and added the eyes and beak.
This was so fun to make, and I look forward to making another one next Easter with a different horror theme...
