Theme Park Crochet-Wicker Man bag

Image
As mentioned in my last post , the other week we visited Alton Towers. While we had a fun day out, because it was still the Easter holidays it was a lot busier that it normally is when we visit. In the end we got to ride Nemesis Sub Terra Curse of Alton Manor one and a half times (it broke down the first time we were on it, which was a fun experience (although it would have been more fun if we hadn't been stuck between two scenes, as we didn't have anything interesting to look at while we waited to be 'rescued')) and finally, Wicker Man. I've already made a Sub Terra crocheted piece , and I have some ideas for Curse to do at a later date, so I thought I'd try crocheting a Wicker Man bag.

Crochet Nemesis Sub Terra egg (plus bonus zombie chick!)

Last week we were planning to go to Alton Towers, so I thought I'd crochet something fun to bring with me. After coming up with a few ideas, I eventually landed on making a Nemesis Sub Terra egg since it's one of my favourite rides, plus it was Easter, so making an egg seemed like the perfect project!

Themed restaurants-Smith & Western

While I love good theming at theme parks, there are lots of other places where theming can really up the experience you're having. One of my personal favourites is themed restaurants. While they're unfortunately not as popular as they used to be, there are still some around if you go looking for them. Some independent, or in today's case, a chain one that's scattered around the South of England.

Theme park crochet-Thorpe Park's The Swarm Bag

Image
I've recently been learning to crochet, and while I've been enjoying making other people's designs, I've been wanting to try and make my own as well. While I'm not quite ready to make amigurumi from scratch yet I have made my own cross stitch patterns in the past, so I felt comfortable coming up with and making crochet tapestry designs from scratch. I want to make designs based on horror movies, themes parks, scare mazes etc, and since theme park season has just arrived I thought I would go for a coaster themed bag that I could use when I visit them. Originally I was planning to make a Saw-The Ride bag as it combines horror and rides, and even made up a pattern for it, but I quickly realised I was not ready to single crochet something large that involved a lot of black yarn (if you know you know!) so I'll be saving that design once I've done a few of these. Instead I went for one that had a much easier colour palette to work with...The Swarm!

My morning at Horrified Crawley

Image
At the weekend I went to Horrified horror con, which was being hosted in Crawley. I was able to go to last year's as well, which was the first time a Horrified con was on, so I was excited to see what this year's would hold. I was only there for a couple hours so didn't go to the talks this time around, and I wasn't planning to get any autographs either, as I wanted all my money to go on merch!

Theme parks we're hoping to/looking forward to visiting this year

Spring has just begun, and with it comes the opening of many theme parks. Here are some of the places we're either looking forward to going to, or planning to go to this year!
